A list of questions to ask interviewer is an important
part of any interview.
It is your chance to display your knowledge of the company and show
that you really wish to work there. If you do not ask any questions
over the course of the interview many employers will wonder if you actually
want the job or not.
The questions that you ask can set you apart from other candidates going
for the same position. If you are able to ask thoughtful and insightful
questions you will stand out from the other candidates. The questions
that you ask can be used to show off your depth of knowledge in your
chosen profession as well as your general level of intelligence.
For senior positions the ability to ask detailed and sophisticated questions
is even more important. Asking only simple questions at a senior level
will not be acceptable as this will show a lack of leadership and initiative.
So what questions should you be asking? Obviously it depends on the
position that you are going for. You need to tailor your questions to
suit each interview. A few sample questions you may wish to ask are:
What are the most important skills I need for this job?
What are the company’s long term and short term targets?
Are there any opportunities for training and professional advancement?
What does the interviewer consider the company’s strengths and
weaknesses to be?
What are the most challenging aspects of the position?
Ask the interviewer what he or she likes best about working for the
company. Ask what she likes least.
These are just a few examples of the questions that you could ask. Avoid
questions such as how many days do I get off each year? Having a list
of well informed and sophisticated questions shows that you are serious
about getting the job and will only improve your chances of getting
the job.
